Is it terribly gauche to, upon realizing that another young lady is donning the same black Chanel dress at last night's charity auction, hasten to the ladies' room to melt the beading off and singe about three inches off the hem? Wouldn't want to be caught wearing the same thing as someone else, would I? Or is my behavior absolutely inexcusable?
